Black Sheathed CY and SY Cable
CSE Cables is a specialist supplier of industrial electrical cable to many vertical markets including the electrical wholesale business. We have previously blogged about supplying a wholesaler local to us who required the more specialist HO7RN-F Cable, in a hurry, but this time we were contacted by another electrical wholesaler for different reasons. The wholesaler required three types of cable in different lengths and specifications :
- 20,000m of SY Cable, 4 Core, 1.5mm2 in back and PVC bedded for improved insulation
- 10,000m of CY Cable, 2 Core, 1.5mm2 in black
- 20,000m of CY Cable, 2 Core, 0.75mm2 in black
Normally, the standard CY and SY Cable would be held in stock and ready for our customers to have shipped to them. However, this customer required some added detail to their order, namely:
- The SY Cable was bedded
- The cables were sheathed in a black sheath instead of grey for UV protection
- Overprinted by the manufacturers with the wholesaler name, phone number and cable detail
- Call off arrangement in 100m reels at a rate of 5,000m per month
Katy Sugden from the CSE Cables team handled the enquiry and said “Standard CY and SY cable is something we stock from our warehouse and one of our best sellers. However, this project was particularly interesting as the customer needed a number of individual touches to their order. As their customers undertake a lot of outdoor wiring work, our client required the black oversheathing to improve the UV resistance and hence longevity of the cable”. CSE cables is able to work with its manufacturers to produce any number of modifications to a cable to meet any individual specification as we have detailed on previous blogs. Katy commented on the process saying “The manufacturing process takes around 4-6 weeks and then we will hold the stock in our warehouse for the client. We will then using our cable cutting machines deliver the 100m reels when requested by the client over the next few months”.
