Cable Application
Generally used in indoor applications these cables are designed to connect communication systems and electrical instrumentation in and around process plants in the oil, petrochemical, gas and other industries. These cables are not for direct connection to the public mains supply.
PAS5308 Cable Part 1 - Type 1 - Unarmoured Construction
1. Plain annealed copper wire conductors to IEC 60228/BS 6360.
2. Type 03C polyethylene insulation to BS 6234.
3. Individual pair screen (optional):
a) Aluminium/polyester tape, metallic side down, in contact with minimum 0.5mm2 tinned copper drain wire.
b) Polyester isolating tape(s) numbered for identification.
4. Polyester isolating tape(s).
5. Collective screen (optional) - Aluminium/polyester tape, metallic side down, in contact with minimum 0.5mm2 tinned copper drain wire.
6. RP PVC type TM2 to BS 7655, voltage rating: 300/500V. Outer sheath colours available are blue for intrinsically safe circuits and black as standard.
Also available is LSHF (Low Smoke Halogen Free) type LTS3 to BS7655. 300/500V rated.
PAS5308 Cable Part 1 - Type 2 - Armoured Construction
Cable Application
Generally suitable for outdoor applications, specifically direct burial within the petrochemical industries.
1. Plain annealed copper wire conductors to IEC 60228/BS 6360.
2. Type 03C polyethene insulation to BS 6234.
3. Individual pair screen (optional):
a) Aluminium/polyester tape, metallic side down, in contact with minimum 0.5mm2 tinned copper drain wire.
b) Polyester isolating tape(s) numbered for identification.
4. Polyester binder tape.
5. Collective screen (optional) - Aluminium/polyester tape, metallic side down, in contact with minimum 0.5mm2 tinned copper drain wire.
6. Type 03C black polyethylene bedding to BS 6234.
7. Single layer galvanised steel wire armour to BS EN 10257-1.
8. RP PVC type TM2 to BS 7655, voltage rating: 300/500V. Outer sheath colours available are blue for intrinsically safe circuits and black as standard.
PAS5308 Cable Part 2 - Type 1 - Unarmoured Construction
1. Plain annealed copper wire conductors to IEC 60228/BS 6360.
2. Type TI1 PVC to BS EN 50363.
3. Individual pair screen (optional):
a) Aluminium/polyester tape, metallic side down, in contact with minimum 0.5mm2 tinned copper drain wire
b) Polyester isolating tape(s) numbered for identification
4. Polyester binder tape.
5. Collective screen (optional) - Aluminium/polyester tape, metallic side down, in contact with minimum 0.5mm2 tinned copper drain wire.
